Position: GP Dog Handler (General Purpose K9 Handler)
Job Description:
BRITSK9 LTD is seeking professional and dedicated GP Dog Handlers to join our expanding security operations across London, Birmingham, and Bristol. Successful candidates will be responsible for delivering high-quality K9 security services at client sites while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, welfare, and operational readiness.
The role includes:
- Conducting static guarding, mobile patrols, and search operations with a trained GP dog.
- Providing a visible security presence and responding promptly to incidents and emergencies.
- Maintaining accurate incident reports, patrol logs, and daily activity records.
- Ensuring the welfare, fitness, and operational readiness of the assigned dog at all times.
- Liaising professionally with clients, members of the public, and emergency services where required.
- Maintaining compliance with company procedures, client requirements, and industry standards.
- Attending refresher training, assessments, and operational briefings as required.
- Ensuring all K9 equipment and vehicle signage remain operational and compliant.
Salary:
Competitive salary, based on experience, qualifications, and deployment requirements.
Working Hours and Schedule:
- Minimum 5 shifts per week
- Full-time opportunities available.
- Monthly rota provided in advance.
- Day, night, weekday, and weekend shifts available depending on operational requirements.
- Overtime opportunities may be available.
Required Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate must demonstrate:
- Previous experience working as a Security Dog Handler.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Strong understanding of site security procedures and incident response.
- Professional appearance and reliable attendance.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of dog welfare and operational performance.
Mandatory Requirements:
Applicants must possess the following:
- Valid SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guard Licence.
- NASDU Level 2 General Purpose Dog Handler Qualification.
- Valid NASDU Team Test Certificate (or equivalent current team certification).
- Working dog registered in the handler’s own name.
- Current veterinary health certificate confirming the dog’s fitness for operational duties.
- Valid dog insurance covering operational security work.
- All required K9 operational equipment and accessories, including appropriate PPE and handling equipment.
- Suitable vehicle for operational deployments fitted with reflective magnetic K9 security signage/stickers.
- Full UK driving licence with access to own transport.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate.
- Additional NASDU or recognised K9 qualifications.
- CCTV Licence (advantageous).
- Experience working on commercial, construction, retail, or industrial security contracts.
